York College, Virtual Ceremony Celebration 2020 & 2021

In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, many students missed out on the opportunity to celebrate their graduation in person. Recognizing the profound impact of this loss, our department at York College took the initiative to honor these students through a virtual ceremony.

Focused on those who majored in Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology within the Behavioral Sciences department, the team worked tirelessly to create a meaningful and memorable event. Despite the short timeframe, I played a crucial role in leading and guiding the team with the graphics, content editing, and logistics needed to put this all together. Our program not only celebrated academic achievements but also acknowledged the resilience and adaptability of the graduating class during such a tumultuous period. The virtual ceremony aimed to bring together students, faculty, and families to commemorate this significant milestone, fostering a sense of community and accomplishment despite the physical distance. Through heartfelt speeches, interactive segments, and personalized recognitions, the event highlighted the strength and perseverance of the graduates, making their accomplishments shine brightly in the face of adversity.

This process involved collecting the listserv of students graduating with a major in Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology and setting up the logistics on collecting their graduation pictures and quotes to present in the ceremony.

The graphics were carefully selected to reflect the pride, colors, and our college mascot, the Cardinal.
